We are very pleased to announce The Newberry Foundation's featured artist for Black History Month, the multitalented Mr. Henry Gorham. Henry Lee Gorham is a Georgia-born artist who lives in McRae. Since 1992 he has worked on a series of narrative paintings that delineate the lives of African American people living in a fictional community called Small Grove. These paintings are based on his memories and experiences growing up in McRae, but also on perceptions of African American life in small, rural towns in the South in the middle years of the 20th century. The opening reception for this exhibition is showcasing through March 5th, 2017. Mr. Gorham's paintings & books are for purchase. Contact us to book your next group tour!!! 478-798-3744 or
